The Davao City Cooperative Development Office is now coordinating with Micro-small and medium enterprises trained through their livelihood training program to showcase their products at the Library Café.
CCDO Head Luzminda Emblamo, during the I-Speak media forum on Thursday, said that with the launching, Coop Cups opens an opportunity not just for coops but for individuals who had undergone training by CCDO.
“[The Coop Cups] will be one of the businesses for our cooperatives, especially our MSMEs because the goods that will be sold there will be coming from our MSMEs, kadtong among gi-train nga mga coop MSMEs nato pwede sila mag consign ani sa atong coop cups which is located sa ating City Library. (those coops that we trained, MSMEs can consign at the Coop Cups located at our City Library),” Emblamo said.
CCDO Cooperative Livelihood Training Center Program Coordinator Ma. Edna Haspe added during the forum that under the Cooperative Livelihood Development Program- Set up Capital Assistance (CLDP-SCE) the CCDO was able to train and give capital assistance to 100 beneficiaries.
“May nabigyan na tayo 100 beneficiaries under CLDP-SCA na at yun sila ang mga MSMEs natin sa ngayon, yun ang pina-parpartnership natin for the Coop Cups na mag consignment doon sa kanila (We have already provided financial assistance to 100 beneficiaries under the CLDP-SCA and they are now the MSMEs that we are pushing to partner with Coop Cups to have a consignment agreement),” Haspe said.
She added that currently, the individual beneficiaries are now producing their own products from their skills training on bread and pastry, fruits and vegetables, candle-making, fish processing, balut making, salted-egg making, mushroom propagation, home care products such as soap and dishwashing, poultry and swine, and chocolate or tableya making.
The Library Café at Coop Cups now located at the Davao City Library and Information Café is the first coop-run café in the Philippines and had its grand opening last January 18, 2023. It now offers not just coffee but also hot meals. The said café intends to showcase and promote local products made by coops and their stakeholders. CIO
