World-class triathletes Dimity-Lee Duke, Michael Raelert, and Sarah Crowley are among the over 1,500 entries who signed up this early to race in the Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao 2023.
Ironman Execom co-chairperson Princess Galura, also The Ironman Group – Sunrise Events Inc. general manager, bared this on Tuesday, February 7, in a Facebook messenger interview.
She said, “Eight professional triathletes have so far confirmed to join.”
Galura said many-time Philippine triathlon champion Duke of Australia, who finished third in the Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao 2019 and 2018 editions, is returning as among the heavy favorites in the women’s pro event.
Duke, a world championship veteran, joins other visiting triathletes from over 30 countries, including Kuwait, China, Spain, France, India, USA, Guam, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Aruba, Brazil, Ireland, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Africa, Australia, Thailand, Netherlands, Poland, Canada, Belgium, Vietnam,
Malaysia, Japan, Norway, Greece, United Arab Emirates, Brunei, Slovakia,
South Korea, and Switzerland, among others.
Her fellow Australian Sarah Crowley is another must-watch competitor, having finished seventh in the Ironman World Championships in Kona-Hawaii, USA in 2022. In the same year, she ruled the Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz race, East Canyon Triathlon, Ironman Cairns Asia Pacific Championships, Ironman Australia Port Mac, Hell of the West Goondiwindi, and Victor Harbour Triathlon Elite.
German Raelert, meanwhile, is a two-time Ironman 70.3 world champion.
Galura also said slots are still available for all categories (individual male, female, relay all male, relay all female, and relay mixed).

The City Government of Davao has put importance on its third hosting of the Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao as an Ironman Execom was recently formed through Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte’s Executive Order (EO) No. 2, Series of 2023, in a bid to boost sports development, spur tourism, and drive economic growth not only in Davao City but also in the country.
