The City Government of Davao formed the Davao City Ironman 2023 Executive Committee through Executive Order (EO) No. 2, Series of 2023.
The triathlon race will unfurl on March 26, 2023.
EO 2, signed by Mayor Sebastian Duterte on January 25, 2023, cites the need to renew and spur economic activities amid the easing of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions in the city.
Staging world-class events such as the Ironman, the new order states, has successfully established the city as a premier destination, bringing a host of benefits to the local economy.
“One of the major events in Davao City which provided tremendous positive effects in the community was the staging of the “Ironman 70.3 Davao” in the years 2018 and 2019; and recently, the said event has again been successfully procured by the city government to continue to propel sports development, promote tourism, and spur economic activities, not only in Davao City and its nearby localities but also for the entire country as well,” EO 2 provides.
Organizers will hold small promotional activities leading up to the main event.
EO 2 also states, “To ensure the success of the staging of the Ironman 70.3 Davao and its ancillary activities and events, there is a need to constitute, organize, and create a committee composed of national, as well as local government departments and offices, private sector individuals, groups and organizations.”
