The Davao City Cooperative Development Office is currently organizing a coop consortium for the sustainability of the operations of the Davao City Food Terminal Complex (DFTC) in Toril.
In an interview with the City Information Office on January 18, 2022, CCDO head Luzminda Eblamo said that about 20 cooperatives have already been identified to form part of the consortium.
She added that the consortium, as a trading partner of DFTC, will be adopting the agri-supply chain model wherein agri-producer cooperatives would supply agri-products and there will also be consolidatorsâthe big cooperatives that will buy the products of the other coops. Marketing coops will also play their role to market the products.
âWe are organizing the consortium, meron na tayong interim officers ngayon (we already have interim officers),â Emblamo said.
She said that the Manuel Guianga and the Sirib Growers and Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (Magsige) form part of the interim.
Meanwhile, other coops identified to join the consortium are the Davao Region Agriculture Cooperative (DRACO) and the Biao Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (BARBCO). More coops may still join and increase the number of members of the consortium.
Eblamo said that the target date for the completion of the organization would be this February.
Currently, the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA to be signed between the City Agriculturist Office (CAO), as operator of the DFTC, and the trading partners is being finalized. CIO
