The Pasko Fiesta Para Sa Lumad, spearheaded by the Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), started distributing food packs to identified beneficiaries in the 11 barangays of Paquibato district last Saturday, December 10.
Julie Dayaday, CSWDO Supervising Administrative IV, said grocery packs have been delivered so far to 9,695 beneficiaries as the distribution resumed Monday, December 12.
Dayaday, during the Serbisyo Dabawenyo program of 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) aired Monday, December 12, said the CSWDO aims to complete the distribution on or before December 17.
“Gina-take advantage nato ang weather. Hopefully, makahuman ta ani before Saturday. Advance naman ang delivery, ang ilaha sa area ang pag-distribute nalang. Nag-ampo ta nga dili maapektuhan sa weather disturbances (We are taking advantage of the good weather. Hopefully, we will finish the distribution before Saturday. We have already advanced the delivery, it’s now up for distribution in different areas. We’re praying that we won’t be affected by any weather disturbances),” she said.
The CSWDO, according to her, finished distributing a total of 13,405 grocery packs to 2,682 families in Baguio District’s Barangays Tawantawan and Tambobong on December 2, 2022.
In Marilog District, 93,035 grocery packs were delivered to 18,607 beneficiary families.
Grocery packs were also given to women and senior organizations, civil society groups, and persons with disability last week.
Dayaday said that aside from completing the distribution in Paquibato District, the CSWDO is also set to turn over the city-funded groceries to various chapters of the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines and the Badjao community this week. Each youth chapter will receive 20 food packs.
Each food pack has three kilos of rice, one can of corned beef, one can of beef loaf, one can of carne norte, one 400-gram spaghetti pasta, one spaghetti sauce, and two sardines.
Naapil pud diri ang atoang mga community-based programs na children needing special protection, children in conflict with the law, home-based daycare and barangay-paid teachers. Naa pud sila’y pinaskuhan gikan sa siyudad
(I just want to remind everyone that this Pasko Fiesta Para sa Lumad is only for two barangays in Baguio District, 12 barangays in Marilog District, and 11 barangays in Paquibato District. Not all barangays in the city of Davao will be provided with grocery packs. Also included here are our community-based programs – children needing special protection, children in conflict with the law, home-based daycare, and barangay-paid teachers. They will also receive Christmas food packs from the city).”
Dayaday also encouraged barangay officials and barangay social workers to come up with a short program during the distribution of the grocery packs, adding that they can ask some beneficiaries to perform their indigenous dance.
She said that so far, the Pasko Fiesta Para sa Lumad operation is generally smooth and peaceful through CSWDO’s joint coordination with the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC), Davao City Police Office, Task Force Davao, City Engineer’s Office, City Transport and Traffic Management Office, Central 911, and Auxiliary.CIO
