The City Government of Davao, the Pasko Fiesta Committee of Davao City – in partnership with the University of the Philippines Symphony Orchestra, Office of the UP President, UP Mindanao, UP Mindanao Foundation Inc., and the UP Alumni Association Davao Inc. brings Pasko at Musika ng UP Symphony Orchestra in the city on December 20 at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) Sports and Cultural Center.
Atty. Glenn Sorilla, the head of the Organizing Committee, Trustee and Treasurer of the UP Mindanao Foundation Inc., said in an interview over the Davao City Disaster Radio Wednesday, December 7, 2022, that Dabawenyos are invited to the event.
“First time man gud ni siya nga imagine 65 musicians naga-perform together for everyone (It is the first time that imagine, 65 musicians will perform together for everyone),” Sorilla said.
She added that the performance is the first for the said orchestra in Mindanao and Davao City.
“They chose Davao City because there is a UP Campus here and the Office of the UP President and the Orchestra really wanted to perform here, kadto pa dapat ni 2020 kay ika-silver nga anniversary sa UP Mindanao (They chose Davao City because there is a UP Campus
here and the Office of the UP President and the Orchestra really wanted to perform here, they were supposed to perform here in 2020 for the silver anniversary of UP Mindanao),” Sorilla said.
The Pasko at Musika with UP Symphony Orchestra will feature
Josefino Chino Toledo as the Music Director. It will also feature
Davao talents Anya Evangelista for Soprano and Malvin Macasaet for Tenor. The orchestra will also feature its very own principal flute player, Raymond Sarreal. The Koro Kantahanay, the Official University Choir of UP Mindanao will also perform during the event.
Tickets are priced at 500, 1,000, and 1,500 and can be reserved through bit.ly/upsoatdavao.
Discounts will be afforded to senior citizens, students, and persons with disabilities.
