The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said it is ready to implement the security and safety templates for the upcoming Pasko Fiesta and other activities this holiday season.
“Andam na ang inyohang kapulisan sa Davao City, ang Davao City Police Office, para sa mga activities karong muabotay na Pasko (Your Davao City Police is now ready for the upcoming Christmas activities),” said DCPO Spokesperson PMaj Catherine dela Rey in a Davao City Disaster Radio program on Monday.
Dela Rey said the DCPO will be deploying 567 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel from the DCPO’s 19 police stations to patrol all 41 churches in the city during the ‘Simbang Gabi’ masses.
The DCPO, as well as the Task Force Davao, will be increasing their visibility in terminals, seaports, airports and in the city’s popular tourist spots. Border control points and internal checkpoints will also be more strictly manned.
“Gawas sa mga border control points, naa pud tay ginapahigayon na 24 hours na checkpoint within Davao City sa mga strategic areas. Wala pa gyud ta nag-down sa atoang guard although wala tay direct threat diri. Dili ta mukumpyansa (Aside from border control points, we also have 24-hour checkpoints within strategic areas in Davao City. We have not let down our guard yet although there is no direct threat here. We will not be complacent),” dela Rey said.
Since every activity this Christmas will be given maximum security coverage, dela Rey reminded citizens that jackets, backpacks and non-transparent water containers are not allowed in all event venues.
Dela Rey added that pointed objects are still strictly prohibited. She said that security checks will be conducted on people entering event venues for Pasko Fiesta activities and others.
As for the public health standards to be enforced, Dela Rey said that police officers will no longer issue citations to those who choose not to wear facemask, however she said that the wearing of face mask, especially in crowded places, is still highly encouraged. CIO
