The Traffic Enforcement and Street Management Division of the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) called on the public to follow the traffic re-routing near major cemeteries to ensure orderly and peaceful observance of the Undas.
āSa tanang mga muduaw sa sementeryo, kami sa taga CTTMO nagahangyo sa tanan na tumanon lang nato tanang rules nga atong ipatuman karong Undas (For those who will visit the cemeteries, we at CTTMO are asking everyone to follow the rules that will be implemented during Undas),ā CTTMO Acting Division Head of Leonard Pamplona, during the I-Speak media forum Thursday, said.
āBisan isa lang ka behikulo ang musupak, maapektuhan tanan. Ug kung ato ning tugutan, sundon pud na sa tanan. So kita gina-awhag nato ang tanan nga tumanon nato unsa ang mga angay nga rules and regulations karong umaabot na Undas (Even if only one vehicle commits a violation, everyone will be affected. And if we allow this, everyone will do the same. So we are encouraging everyone to follow the rules and regulations this coming Undas),ā he said.
The city has 35 cemeteries– 10 are public cemeteries, 14 private and 11 are barangay cemeteries.
Traffic advisories and signages will be placed in strategic areas to guide motorists and pedestrians regarding one-way traffic and road closures in public and private cemeteries. Announcements on these traffic schemes will be posted at City Government of Davao Facebook Page: https://bit.ly/Undas2022TrafficScheme
Pamplona said to ensure orderly traffic, the CTTMO will deploy 600 personnel to cemeteries. For cemeteries in far-flung areas, barangay officials and barangay tanods will oversee traffic management.
Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) Representative RJ Ryll Henry, during the same I-Speak Media Forum, said they will be deploying a total of 3,870 personnel from October 30 to November 3.
Henry also called on the public not to leave their homes unattended to avoid cases of robbery or burglary.
āKung muadto mo og sementeryo unta naay mabilin sa inyong balay kay although naay ga-roving na security sa mga housing we can only do so much. (If you will go to the cemeteries, you should leave at least one person in your homes because although there are security forces making the rounds, we can only do so much),ā Henry said.
City Economic Enterprises Head Maximo Macalipes Jr. said private cemeteries did not object to the 16-point guidelines that the city government will be implementing in the cemeteries.
Macalipes said the guidelines were crafted in coordination with the City Health Office, City Engineerās Office, CEE, PSSO, CTTMO, City Environment and Natural Resources Office and Barangay Cultural and Communities Affairs Division (BCCAD).
The guidelines are posted on the City Government of Davao Facebook Page. CIO
