The Davao City Public Safety and Security Office (formerly PSSCC) on Thursday started the intensive skills, education, and capacity-building training of Civil Security Unit (CSU) personnel.
A total of 156 CSU security guards (86 are male and 70 are female), will participate in the two-day training (October 13-14) at the Barangay 35-D covered court to improve their ability to render protection and security services to the public.
Some of the trainees are those who applied for a job during a barangay caravan of the City Government of Davao.
Lectures on the duties and responsibilities of a CSU guard, first responder scene of the crime, and courtesy and discipline will be conducted on the first day of training. The trainees will also be taught the proper administration of medical first aid.
On the second day, the CSU will conduct training seminars on citizen’s arrest, anti-criminality, bomb awareness and identification, culture of security, and information gathering.
In an interview with the City Information Office, CSU chief Efren Pajota said the lectures and trainings are important in maintaining safety and order in city-owned establishments and other public spaces.
“Sa atong mga city-owned establishment, kailangan kaayo nato ang mga gwardiya kay sila gyud ang mag-lookout sa mga gamit sa mga establisyemento sama sa mga eskwelahan, labi na karon na nagbalik na atong face-to-face na kahimtang. Naa diha ang mga butang, mga computer, ug naa pud ang mga bata (In our city-owned establishments, we really need guards to keep an eye out on the valuables in the establishments, especially in the schools now that the face-to-face setup is back. In the schools there are valuable things, computers, and the children are also there),” said Pajota.
Three more batches of CSU security guards will undergo the same intensive trainings which are slated on October 17-18, 20-21, and 27-28, Pajota added.
There are 1,546 security guards under the CSU currently deployed in various public establishments in the city, including public schools, parks and terminals. CIO
