Another public park has been inaugurated in Barangay Los Amigos on Monday. This brings to 24 the total number of operating recreational parks in the city.

Mayor Sebastian Duterte, City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) head Engr. Marivic Reyes, several city councilors and other public officials attended the park’s opening.

The Los Amigos Pocket Park had a budget of P26 million from the Local Government Support Fund. Development of the park began in October last year.

Reyes, in an interview with Byaheng DO30, said the park will serve as a place of respite for residents of Barangay Los Amigos and beyond.

With a total land area of 5,000 square meters, the pocket park features amenities such as a playground, an elevated gazebo with an overlooking view, a parking lot, bike racks, solar lights, brick pathways, endemic trees and ornamental plants.

The park is open for jogger and walkers at 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., and will open again at 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Reyes said the park will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for maintenance.

The CENRO head invited Dabawenyos to visit the park, with a reminder to be maintain its cleanliness.

“Pahimangno lang, once you are at the park, observe lang gihapon ta sa atong health protocol. And then dapat disiplinado gyud ta ba sa pag-gamit sa park by securing our basura (Just a reminder: once you are at the park, observe health protocols.
