The City Government of Davao urged Dabawenyos to avail of the free surveillance swabbing for those manifesting influenza-like symptoms and close contacts of confirmed COVID-19 positive patients amid the recent increase of COVID-19 cases in the city.
Davao City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser reiterated her call for individuals to submit themselves to surveillance swabbing if they are experiencing cough, colds, fever, diarrhea, or sore throat to help break the chain of infection because once found positive, necessary interventions will be accorded them.
The Sta. Ana Health Center Covid-19 Cluster Clinic (CCC), Crocodile Park Swabbing Site, and the Talomo River Covid-19 Cluster Clinic (CCC) are the ones catering to free swab testing for confirmed COVID-19 positive close contacts.
Dr. Schlosser, in a recent broadcast of the COVID-19 Alert over 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR), reminded confirmed COVID-19 patients and their close contacts to honestly disclose their symptoms and close contacts.
“Kung mamakak mo sa inyong health status, kung muingon mo wala mo’y gibati ug wala mo’y sintomas, pwede mo mudili sa pagpaswab. But in case you actually have the symptoms and close contact kaayo mo, pwede ninyo ibutang sa high risk inyong loved ones, ang inyohang mga colleagues kung nagatrabaho mo, ang mga strangers that you’ll be meeting during sa inyohang interaction and activities (If you lie about your health status, if you say you don’t have any symptoms, you can opt-out of swab. But in case you actually have the symptoms and you are a very close contact, you can put at high risk your loved ones, colleagues if you are working, strangers then you’ll be meeting during your interaction and activities),” she said.
Disclosure of close contacts, according to her, will help break the chain of infection and transmission, maintain the city’s alert level 1 status, and keep the economy going.
The city health official said, “We are appealing to all of you to please do not lie. Be honest with your symptoms so we can address your concerns, attend to your needs, and serve you through our COVID-19 management. The rise and fall of the cases are dependent on each of us. It will always be dependent on the behavior of the people.”
