The Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is now fast-tracking the validation of Punta Dumalag fire victims for the distribution of financial aid.
At 2:30 pm on August 5, 2022, the CSWDO listed a total of 157 damaged houses, 152 of which are razed while five are partially damaged. There are a total of 196 affected families, including renters, sharers, boarders and caretakers. The fire occurred around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3 at Punta Dumalag 1 in Barangay Matina Aplaya.
CSWDO Talomo B District Headâ Geena Autida, in an interview with the City Information Office on Friday, August 5, 2022, said that they are almost done with the masterlist.
âNaa nami sa 90 percent sa validation. Naa nalang mi ginaplantsa nga problema during the validation (We are at 90 percent of the validation. We are now in the process of fixing a problem we faced during validation),â Autida said.
âGina-target namo karong hapon mahuman gyud para maka ano nagyud mi og official nga masterlist para ma-process nato ilang financial assistance. (We are targeting that we can finish it this afternoon so that we will have a masterlist and process their financial assistance),â Autida added.
Autida said that the CSWDO has already distributed relief packs to the evacuees, who are now staying at the Dumalag 3 Gym and Shanghai gym, where 90 families and 80 families are staying.
Autida added that the City Mayorâs Office also gave food and non-food assistance, as the Office of Congressman Paolo Duterte did. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also extended help and some private individuals and groups donated to the victims.
She said that the City Mayorâs Office will continue to provide lugaw and lomi for the evacuees on a daily basis.
âKaron naa gihapon sila sa evacuation, pero ang uban anaa na sa community, along lang gyud sa neighborhood lang kay ang uban naa sa ilahang relative na taga diha lang gihapon sa Matina Aplaya. Kadtong naa sa ilahang relative muadto lang sa evacuation para magkuha og assistance (As of the moment most of them are still at the evacuation center but some are now in the community along their neighborhood because some of them are living with their relatives at Matina Aplaya. Those who are staying with their relatives just go to the evacuation center to get assistance),â Autida said. CIO
