To encourage more individuals to get inoculated, the Agdao District Health Center has extended its COVID-19 vaccination rollout to Saturdays.
Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesperson of the Davao City COVID-19 Task Force, during the Bida Bakunado program of the 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) aired on Wednesday afternoon, July 15, 2022, said all 18 district health centers are supposedly operational only from Mondays to Fridays but the Agdao District Health Center decided to also open a Saturday rollout.
“Isa na sa mga ginatan-aw nga proposition sa ubang district health center. Just like before, daghan gihapon gusto og Saturdays. Hopefully, this will be the beginning sa kanang rollout nato every Saturday sa atong mga district health offices. Hopefully, masundog sya sa uban (It’s one of the propositions being eyed by the district health centers. Just like before, more people want it done on Saturdays. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of the vaccination rollout every Saturday in our district health offices. Hopefully, others will also follow),” she said.
The city health official said only 17 of the city’s 18 district health centers went fully operational in their COVID-19 vaccination while the Paquibato District Health Center is expected to also go full blast next week.
She said that while the COVID-19 vaccination teams are deployed in district health centers, the mobile vaccination teams will continue to visit barangays as a way to also make the vaccines more accessible to Dabawenyos.
Our mobile vaccinators will go to the barangays. For those who can’t locate their district health centers, at least their mobile vaccination teams can cater to them. We can bring and make our services nearer to the people and provide them proper information).”
She also reiterated the need for Dabawenyos to avail of the COVID-19 vaccination, citing the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.
Davao City, according to her, recorded a three percent positivity rate on Thursday, July 14, but it hit a seven percent positivity rate on Thursday, July 14, with 51 new active cases in just one day.
Schlosser said there were some days that the city exceeded the allowable five percent positivity rate although from June 26 to July 9, the average daily positivity rate was at 4.47 percent.
“Anytime pwede gyud mutaas atong cases, anytime pwede ma-overwhelm napud ta. Managhan atong cases, if it’s just mild or asymptomatic, we can attend to them sa TTMFs and home isolation but if dili bakunado or not boosted, dakong tsansa makuha moderate, severe, o critical type of COVID-19 na magresulta sa kamatayon (The COVID-19 cases will increase anytime, and our hospitals will be overwhelmed anytime. Should our cases increase and they are mild or asymptomatic, we can attend to them at TTMFs and home isolation but if they are not vaccinated or not boosed, there’s a great chance for them to get the moderate, severe, or critical type of COVID-19 that could result in death),” she added.
