Kadayawan Execom Spokesperson Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre, in an interview over the Davao City Disaster Radio Wednesday, said that the renovation of the Kadayawan Village is being fast-tracked.

ā€œAng atoang budget sa renovation diha is Php 3.2 million. Dugay-dugay nata wala ka celebrate diha so medyo naay dapat ayuson (Our budget for the renovation is 3.2 million. Itā€™s been a while since we had celebrations there so there are many things to fix),ā€ Alejandre said.

He said that the Kadayawan Village, built for the 11 tribes of Davao City, is important because it is among the sites that tourists and locals visit to learn more about the tribal culture.

ā€œIsa na sa adtuanan sa atong mga tourist and mga Dabawenyo to really observe unsa ang ilahang kultura (This area (Kadayawan Village) is the place where the tourist and the Dabawenyos observe the culture of the eleven tribes)ā€ Alejandre said.

He said that the Kadayawan Tribal Village is ā€œa way of educating the people about the way of living of the tribes living in the city of Davao. Mirroring this effort, the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Education Arts and Culture has previously passed a resolution requesting the Department of Education to include the culture and traditions of the 11 tribes in the curriculum.

ā€œGina-fast track gyud na diha nga ang atoang tribal village will be finished on August 5. Every week mi naay Execom meeting sa Kadayawan para ma-plantsa gyud nato. (We are fast-tracking the renovation of the tribal village so it will be finished on August 5. Every week we have an Execom meeting to ensure that everything is smooth),ā€ he said.

The opening of the Kadayawan Village on August 5 at the Magsaysay Park, as well as the Kadayawan 3D Mapping at City Hall FaƧade, will mark the preliminary activities before the opening of Kadayawan activities on August 15.

Alejandre said that the Bantawan Amphitheatre located inside the Magsaysay Park will be used by the tribes for their Bantawan Cultural Performances.

He said that the city is all set for the return of the face-to-face Kadayawan Festival and assured that minimum public health protocols shall be observed during the festivities.
