As Davao City’s COVID-19 positivity rate rose to 4.5 percent on June 26, 2022, the Davao City COVID-19 Task Force reiterated the need for Dabawenyos to strictly observe the minimum public health standards (MPHS) such as wearing face masks and frequent handwashing.
In a meeting of the Davao City COVID-19 Task Force on Monday, June 27, 2022, the COVID-19 situationer report noted that of the 396 who were swabbed on June 26, 18 turned out to be positive.
In recent months, the city managed to only have below one percent to over two percent COVID-19 positivity rate.
To date, the city recorded a total of 72,621 COVID-19 cases from March 2020, and 70,540 have recovered while 2,000 succumbed to the disease.
The city has recorded 80 active cases as of 6 p.m. on June 26.
But as of 8 a.m. on June 26, there were 65 cases and 37 of them are asymptomatic patients while 27 were mild cases, and one was severe. Of this number, 25 were on approved home isolation while 22 were admitted to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC). At least eight were for endorsement to facility assignment, seven were in private hospitals, one was isolated in a non-TTMF in the city, another one isolated at a TTMF, and one is under the Davao Doctors Hospital Home Care Program.
Since Davao City was placed under alert level 1 in March 2022, its COVID-19 cases remained low.
In a previous interview, Davao City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said, “Our COVID-19 cases would remain to be lower than five percent of the acceptable positivity rate. We continue to have controlled cases. However, even if we have low cases, we continue implementing our PDITR plus strategy).”
She said the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate (PDITR) plus vaccination has never stopped despite the full capacity and fully operational status of all offices and establishments under the city’s alert level 1 category.
She said quarantining and isolating those infected with the coronavirus and the traditional contact tracing of the close contacts are also ongoing along with the treatment of COVID-19 patients and vaccination.
The city health official said the city continues to give free swabbing to those with influenza-like illnesses and close contacts of COVID-19 positive patients. Free isolation services are also available for infected individuals who have mild symptoms or are asymptomatic.
“Diri sa Davao City, gina-intensify pud nato ang pag-penalty sa pag dili mag wear og face mask, that’s one of the things we have discussed sa COVID-19 Task Force. Apason gyud tong mga tao na naay sala for not wearing face masks so that ma-inculcate sa ilaha nga importante gyud because important ang pag wear of face mask to prevent transmission of the disease (Here in Davao City, we have intensified penalizing those who don’t wear face masks, that’s one of the things we have discussed in the COVID-19 Task Force. We will really go after those who violate the protocol of face mask-wearing so that they would understand how important it is to wear face masks to prevent the transmission of the disease). And the only way to prevent the severity of the disease is to have ourselves vaccinated,” Dr. Schlosser said in a past interview.
Davao City is categorized as low risk for the third straight week. There have been no critical and high-risk barangays for 17 straight weeks already. CIO
