Outgoing Davao City Mayor and Vice President-Elect Inday Sara Duterte thanked and lauded the honest and hardworking City Government of Davao employees for being instrumental to her success as mayor and the local government unit (LGU) as a whole.
In her final Special Hour broadcast over Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday, June 27, 2022, she said, “Ang kusog sa mayor maggikan lang unsa ka kusog ang mga empleyado ug chiefs of offices. Ang inyonang luha, dugo ug pawis sa pagserbisyo sa atoang syudad, taken together tanang efforts sa mga empleyado nato – that is the success of the City Government of Davao (The strength of a mayor comes from the strength of the employees and chiefs of offices. Your tears, blood, and sweat in providing service to our city, taken together with all the efforts of our employees – that is the success of the City Government of Davao). That’s the kind of quality service that we give Dabawenyos.”
She also thanked Dabawenyos for supporting her as city mayor.
“Daghang salamat sa katawhan sa pagsuporta sa akoa as your city mayor. In fact, it was truly an honor to be the top performing mayor during a pandemic pa na ha. Gihatag na ninyo na honor, pasalamat ko sa inyong tanan. Akoang balsan sad na akong
gihatag na ninyo na honor, pasalamat ko sa inyong tanan sa akong trabaho para makakita ta ug malinawon na pagpamuyo sa atoang nasud (Thank you to all of you for supporting me as your city mayor. In fact, it was truly an honor to be the top performing mayor during a pandemic. You gave me that honor, I want to thank all of you. I will repay the honor you gave me and my way of thanking you all is through my work, that we will live peacefully in our country,” the mayor said.
She thanked the DCDR team, saying that she’s happy that the radio station is a project implemented during her administration. DCDR, according to her, helped address misinformation and prepare Dabawenyos for looming disasters.
The incoming vice president also said she will miss the Special Hour program, which started airing at 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) in March 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She said that the radio program will be replicated by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) team.
“Di pa ko maka-announce but there will be an exciting program as well sama ani with the team sa OVP. Kato lang, dili na ta magbinisaya kay dako naman atong audience. Dili na inato kay dili naman mayor, vice president naman. Naa gihapon atong programa para sa katawhan (I still cannot announce the details but there will be an exciting program just like this with the OVP team. However, we won’t be speaking in Bisaya anymore because our audience has become larger. It will not be like the usual because it’s not the mayor (speaking) anymore but the vice president. We will still have a program for our countrymen).”
She reminisced that the Special Hour with Mayor Inday Sara Duterte was a daily program when it first started via DCDR, which is under the City Information Office (CIO).
“Kaniadto, during ECQ, every day ta ga broadcast just so ang mga tawo dili mag-panic, dili ma-anxious, naay makaduulan, mapangutan-an, ug maistorya nato sila (During the ECQ, every day we do a live broadcast so that the people won’t panic, won’t become anxious, they will have somebody to ask a question from, and talk to),” the mayor said.
Over time as the situation normalized and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) was established then the program’s airing frequency became once a week for brief COVID-19 updates.
Her term as mayor will end at noon on June 30, 2022, and at the same time, incoming Mayor Sebastian Duterte will replace her. The outgoing vice mayor took his oath of office on Monday afternoon, June 27, 2022, in the presence of his family, led by his father and Outgoing President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and Vice President-Elect Inday Sara.
