Davao City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Head Engr. Marivic Reyes said that as of May 17, 2022, approximately 80% of the total campaign paraphernalia scattered across Davao City had been collected for proper disposal.
Engr. Reyes said that the segregation of campaign materials is underway and those recyclables will be recycled. The non-reusable campaign materials will end up in the city landfills. The reusable materials will be handed over to local livelihood organizations that can recycle them into usable products.
The CENRO Head said while they have started the process, the materials recovery effort should be a joint effort between CENRO and all Davao City barangay units. However, she admits that the Cityâs campaign for waste segregation at the barangay levelâmandated by the Davao City’s Ecological Solid Waste Management Ordinance of 2009âremains challenging.

Of the 182 barangays in Davao City, only 30 practice waste segregation religiously, Engr. Reyes said.
Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte on Monday urged citizens to help in the clean-up effort by reporting any uncollected campaign material they happen to find. CIO
