CTTMO to require registration of shops using portions of public roads

The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) will start requiring owners of auto and carwash shops and other establishments using a portion of public roads to register as mandated under the Davao City Transport and Traffic Code of 2012 or the Davao City Ordinance No. 0334-12.

With this, CTTMO is set to hold a seminar for the owners of auto and carwash shops and other establishments on April 27, 28, and 29 via ZOOM to guide them in the registration procedure and requirements.

“Mandated man gud ni sa atoang Traffic Code na sa Article 16 Section 117, naga-ingon nga dapat ang nag-establish og car wash og motor repair shop magparehistro sa CTTMO (It is mandated in Article 16 Section 117 of the Traffic Code stating that owners of carwash or motor repair shops should register to the CTTMO),” CTTMO Head Dionisio Abude said In an interview on the Davao City Disaster Radio on Wednesday.

Abude said that the owners of the carwash and repair shops have been notified and these were already inventoried by CTTMO. Also included are owners of driveways and establishments using roads for public pay parking.

The Traffic Code also mandates that the owner of a building or commercial establishment with an existing driveway abutting a city road, street, or highway within a public parking pay zone shall pay an annual driveway permit fee of 1,000 pesos.

“Supposed to be kung wala sila’y driveway diha butangan nato na og isa ka slot for public pay parking (Supposed to be if they do not have a driveway, we put a slot for public pay parking zone),” he said.

Also included are the establishments that have been given a portion of the public road for access to their driveway.

“Kadtong uban nga naa lang driveway diha muagi sa atoa unya gi-open na siya para sa ilahang agi-anan so kana sila gi-require sila sa Traffic Code na magparegistro sila og naa silay bayaran annually na 1,000 pesos (Those who have driveways and a portion of the public road is opened for their access they are also required by the Traffic Code to register and pay an annual fee of Php 1,000),” he said.

He added that those buildings with six-meter parking setbacks are not obliged to register. Establishing setback parking for buildings has been encouraged to prevent road obstruction.

Abude added that also invited to the Zoom meeting are the student driving schools and private garage vehicles for hire.

CTTMO will be accepting applications for registration on May 30 and the implementation of the inspection and issuance of citation tickets start on September 26, 2022.

Those who will not meet the registration requirement may face the penalty of Php 1,000 for the first offense, Php 3,000 for the second offense, and Php 5,000 and non-renewal of business permit for third and succeeding offenses. CIO
