The Davao City COVID-19 Task Force, through the Vaccination Cluster, targets to administer booster shots to national government office employees in the city after a recent evaluation among several offices showed that over 50 percent of fully vaccinated workers have yet to receive their booster doses.

Davao City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser, during the COVID-19 Alert program of the 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, said the Vaccination Cluster has already identified the vaccination status of these government offices.

“So far, nakit-an nato sa evaluation naa pa gyud mga offices sa government na ang mga employees wala pa ma-booster. Isa sa atong lakang is ang in-office vaccination rollout (We have seen in the evaluation that there are government offices with employees who still haven’t gotten their booster jabs. One of our strategies is the in-office vaccination rollout),” she said. This is on top of the ongoing rollout via the vaccination hubs, mobile, drive-thru, sectoral, and house-to-house for 12 to 17 and adult population age groups; and special site vaccination sites for the pediatric five to 11 years old population.

Among these government regional offices are the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Commission on Audit, Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, National Housing Authority, and Office of Civil Defense.

“Actually daghan pa gud kaayo ni. Daghan kaayong government offices ang fully vaccinated na ang employees pero ubay-ubay pa gyud ang mga offices wala pa ma-booster (There are still many others. A lot of government offices have a lot of fully vaccinated employees but there are still those who have not yet received their booster shots),” Dr. Schlosser said, assuring that they have enough manpower to conduct the in-office mobile vaccination rollout.

She also said that the City Government of Davao, through the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), has already identified some 1,900 fully vaccinated employees (plantilla, job order, and contract of service) who have not yet been boostered. They will also be the focus of the Vaccination Cluster to ensure that employees of city government offices are fully vaccinated, boostered, and protected.

The city’s 1,200 contact tracers, according to her, also needed to get booster jabs being frontliners who deal with COVID-19 patients and clients firsthand.

“We want to make sure our people na gahatag og contact tracing services, protected gyud sila (We want to make sure our people who provide contact tracing services are also protected),” the city health official said.

As of March 26, Davao City’s fully immunized individuals reached a total of 1,292,684 but only 17.76 percent or 229,588 have received their booster shots.CIO
