The Davao City Vaccination Cluster has reported a high response from people availing of the anti-Covid vaccination during the rollout of the Barangay Level Special Vaccination drive from March 29 to 31, 2022.

Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, the Head of the Davao City Vaccination Cluster, in an interview on the Davao City Disaster Radio Friday, said that the initial number of vaccinees administered in barangays through the Barangay Level-Special Vaccination Days can be considered “high” with the good response and coordination of the barangay councils to the vaccination efforts.

According to Villafuerte, the two vaccination mobile teams vaccinated 230 individuals in just one round in Binugao, Toril on March 30.

“Maganda kasi ang preparation nila. Kung hindi maganda mataas na 30 to 50 persons. And then yesterday (Thursday), maganda rin ang output ng Barangay Sirawan kasi naka-200 plus sila (This is due to their good preparation. If not done well, they could’ve catered to only 30 to 50 persons. And then yesterday (Thursday) they also have good output in Barangay Sirawan because they were able to administer more than 200 in one round,” Villafuerte said.

There were 203 individuals vaccinated in Barangay Sirawan

“Maganda ang response ng mga barangay council (The barangay councils responded well),” Villafuerte said.

She said that two teams were deployed per batch – one for stationary vax site at the barangay hall and the other for the house-to-house service.

She said that the conduct of a vaccination drive does not require pre-registration because a survey was already conducted before the vaccination.

What we do is that before the vaccination, we visited and surveyed the area to ask who are not vaccinated yet, and for those undecided, they are listed and encouraged to be vaccinated. Those who do not want to be vaccinated are still advised to be vaccinated, she said.

She added that this survey and prior coordination with the barangay is the reason why the team cannot conduct the barangay level house to house vaccination simultaneously in the 182 barangays. The vaccination cluster also gives priority to barangays with less than 80 percent vaccination coverage. (CIO)
