At least 286 food, ready-to-wear, and accessories vendors and massage therapists will resume operations as Davao City’s Roxas Night Market reopens on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

Of the 286, 56 are food vendors, 65 are ready-to-wear vendors, 100 are massage therapists, and 65 are accessories vendors. They all underwent a recent orientation

City Economic Enterprise Office Head Celerino P. Eralino said the reopening of the popular night market is part of the economic recovery initiatives of the City Government of Davao as discussed by the Davao COVID-19 Task Force.

“Mao sad ni ang advice ni Mayor Inday Sara aron matabangan ang atong kaubang mga Dabawenyo aron maka-recover sa ilahang panginabuhi (This was also the advice of Mayor Inday Sara to help our fellow Dabawenyos recover their livelihood),” Eralino said in an interview with Byaheng DU30.

Eralino said the vendors will operate for three months at the Roxas Night Market for this year. Their term will end in June.

“Ang kanang mga nakadaug na karon sa raffling, hangtud karong tuiga ra ni sila. Makaapil nasad ni sya og raffling sa sunod napud tuig puhon kay ato napud ihatag og tyansa katong uban na gusto mutinda nga wala giswerte, wala makadaug sa raffling katong niaging semana (Those who won the raffling of slots can operate this year. They can join the raffling next year to give chance to others who also want to win slots but were unfortunate during the raffle last week),” he said.

Those who earned slots for the March 24 to June 24 duration can return in 2023, he added, and join the raffle again. It will be the same process for those who will win slots for July to September and October to December this year.

Meanwhile, Davao City’s security cluster is ready to provide protection, ensure safety, and enforce the mandatory wearing of face masks inside the night market.

Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) Head Retired PLt. Col. Angel B. Sumagaysay, in a recent interview, said they will just implement the template that they have been using for Roxas Night Market but with the strict enforcement of the mandatory wearing of face mask. Citation tickets will also be issued to face mask violators. CIO
