The Davao City Covid-19 Task Force is eyeing to add deputized personnel to assist security personnel in enforcing the minimum public health measures and apprehend violators.

Davao City Covid-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser in an interview on Tuesday said the additional deputized personnel will help the Security Cluster who are tasked to do other assignments apart from enforcing the Minimum Public Health Standards (MPHS).

“Kasi whether we like it or not overwhelmed man ang atoang safety and security cluster and policemen, kay apart from Covid management and the implementation of the MPHS, naa pa man gud main work ang atoang mga personnel such as crimes and all of those things po, labi na pud ang gina-implement nato na household lockdowns. (Whether we like it or not our Safety and Security Cluster and the police are overwhelmed because apart from Covid-19 management, and the implementation of the MPHS, they have their main work such as apprehension for other crimes and implement household lockdowns),” Schlosser said.

She added that the member offices of the Response Cluster already expressed intention to have their personnel trained for the apprehensions.

These member offices include the Vice Mayor’s Office, City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), Prevention and Enforcement, City Economics Enterprise Office, City Health Office, and City Tourism Operations Office.

She added that these deputized personnel will apprehend those who will not wear face masks and not following the social distancing.

The training schedule for the deputized personnel will commence as soon as possible.

In a report, Public Safety and Security Command Center Angel Sumagaysay said that they target to deputize more than 100 personnel for the implementation of the Face Mask Ordinance and will be assigned in the city streets and offices of the city government.

Those who violate the wearing of face mask will pay the penalty of P500 pesos. CIO
