Anti-Scam Unit keeps eye on firms linked to fake vax cards

The Davao City Anti-Scam Unit is tracking establishments previously linked to fake vaccination cards following reports of the proliferation of unauthorized vaccination cards and vaccination exemption cards.

In an interview with Davao City Disaster Radio on Thursday, Anti-Scam Unit Head Simplicio Sagarino said that after a successful entrapment of fake vaccination cards last year his office continues to monitor these establishments.

“Naay nadakpan ang kapulisan ana, na-entrap sa Diaz Mall. Nag plead guilty last year. Ato napud nga gina-monitor ang maghimo anang vaccination card diha gihapon sa area nga atong na mention (Our police officers were able to entrap someone from Diaz Mall last year and the person already pleaded guilty. We are still monitoring if there are people who are making these cards in the same area),” Sagarino said.

Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte during the Special Hour Program over Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday has warned the public against possessing or issuing vaccination exemption cards and unauthorized vaccination cards.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has warned the public that there is no such thing as “Covid-19 vaccination exemption cards” that are allegedly used by unvaccinated individuals to be exempted from stay-at-home orders, ride public transportation, and enjoy other privileges.

DILG clarified that the government will never issue nor recognize such cards because this runs counter to the government’s national vaccination program to inoculate the majority of the populace to achieve population protection.

The city’s Anti-Scam Unit, according to Sagarino, is open to receiving complaints on any transactions involving such unauthorized vaccination cards, investment scams, among others.

“Ato lang pahimangnuan ang atoang constituents na kung naa mo’y query and pagduda free man ang atong office alas otso hangtod alas singko, Lunes hangtod Biyernes (We would like to inform our constituents that if you have query or doubts, you are free to visit our office which is open from 8 am to 5 pm, Mondays to Fridays,” Sagarino said.
