The Davao City Covid-19 Task Force has opted to impose a granular lockdown instead of a total lockdown amid increasing coronavirus cases in the city.

Currently, the city government has already implemented a granular lockdown of one government office.

This was bared by Covid-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser in an interview over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Friday.

“As much as possible we will not do a total lockdown. We will be doing the granular lockdown kung unsa lang tung area na naay significantly increasing number of cases. As of the moment, naa tay na-lockdown na office starting January 9, because of the high number of cases (As much as possible we will not do a total lockdown. We will be doing granular lockdown in areas with a significantly increasing number of cases. As of the moment, we implemented lockdown of an office starting last January 9 because of the high number of cases),” she said.

As of January 13, the city has 307 new cases. The total number is higher compared to January 12 with 243 cases; January 11 with 110 new cases; and January 10 with 40 new cases.

Schlosser said that the city continues to encourage the public to be vaccinated and follow the minimum public health protocols to mitigate cases of Covid-19.
