Only 46 of Davao City’s 182 barangays currently have COVID-19 cases, Davao COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said on Friday afternoon, November 26, during the Bida Bakunado program on 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR).
Dr. Schlosser said, “Daghan na tag barangay na zero sa COVID-19 cases. How many days now wala tay critical o high-risk areas from November 14 to 20 (We have a lot of barangays with zero COVID-19 cases. It’s been days that we didn’t have critical or high-risk areas from November 14 to 20).”
That leaves 136 barangays COVID-19-free in the city.
“These barangays kasagaran one to two cases lang naa sa ilang barangay. Wala na tay gina-lockdown nga establishments. Dako sad tag pasalamat no sa atong mga establishments diri sa Davao, cooperative kaayo ang mga establishment owners (The 46 barangays usually have one to two cases. We no longer have establishments on lockdown. We are so thankful to all establishments in Davao City, the establishment owners have been very cooperative),” the city health official said.
She recalled that during the last surge of COVID-19 cases that Davao City experienced, the Davao COVID-19 Task Force had regular dialogues with establishment owners, who initiated help in reducing the cases among their employees.
Dr. Schlosser added, “I believe they’ve always been supportive of our guidelines and protocols, they follow it diligently.”
As of November 25, Davao City recorded eight cases, lower than the 10 cases reported on November 24. The city currently has a total of 198 active cases.
The city has logged a total of 53,741 COVID-19 cases since March 2020, 51,766 recoveries, and 1,777 deaths.
Despite the recent downtrend of COVID-19 cases, she reiterated the need for Dabawenyos to continue adhering to the minimum public health standards (MPHS).
She also called anew on parents to be responsible when bringing their unvaccinated children to crowded places such as malls, beaches, or parks since the coronavirus is still very much around.
Dr. Schlosser added that if parents cannot guarantee to make their children follow the MPHS while outdoors, they better not bring them out at all. CIO
