Davao City’s efforts to further improve its collection on real property taxes have paid off after the Department of Finance-Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) XI named the city government as the Top Performing Local Government Unit in Real Property Tax Collection under the city category.
Amid the evolving coronavirus pandemic, the city government collected Php 2,260,636,000 or 190.95 per cent real property tax collection efficiency, exceeding its target collection of Php 1,183,883,000 for year 2020.
The tax collection efficiency earned recognition not only for the City Treasurer’s Office but also the City Assessors Office for its comprehensive assessment of real properties in support of the Revenue Generation Program of the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) Region XI.
The CTO, CAO, and Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte were given plaques for their support to the program.
Besides Davao City, DoF-BLGF XI also recognized Digos City, Mati City, Panabo City, Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS), Tagum City for their performance in exceeding their targets as well, with collection efficiency at 112.17 percent, 121.20 percent, 138.97 percent, 139.54 percent, 162.84 percent, respectively.
