The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP)-led mobile vaccinations in Davao City hit a total of 46,947 first doses as of September 28, 2021, reported the Vaccine Cluster of the Davao COVID-19 Task Force.

Of that number, 6,164 are fully vaccinated.

Recent stops were held in Barangay Biao Escuela, headed by the Office of City Councilor Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz, which saw 550 vaccinees and in Barangay Centro Agdao through the Office of City Councilor Danny Dayanghirang, which inoculated 500 individuals with Sinovac first jabs.

The Office of the Vice Mayor (OVM), for its part, administered the Janssen vaccine to 18 residents via door-to-door.

Davao COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser, during the COVID-19 Alert program of 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) held on Wednesday, September 29, said that while the city councilors are going to the barangays for the vaccination, the information dissemination drive on the anti-COVID-19 vaccines will also be brought to the barangays.

“Para lang gyud ma achieve ang 15,000 vaccinations a day, isa sa nakitang way sa councilors naga go sa barangay dal-on ang vaccination rollout tagsa tagsa ka barangay pati information drive dal-on sa barangay level (For us to achieve the 15,000 vaccinations a day, the councilor bring to the barangays the vaccination rollout including the information drive),” Dr. Schlosser said.

She noted that some of those who have not submitted themselves for vaccination, although they are part of the priority and sectoral groups, may still be hesitating. Thus with the help of the barangay officials, who are the trusted representatives of their constituents at the grassroots level, they will intensify the COVID-19 vaccination drive campaign.

Dr. Schlosser said, “Mga tawo lang nga hesitant, they have fears ba na wala lang napasabot og sakto (Some people are hesitant, they have fears and were not properly informed).”

She earlier thanked the VMO and SP councilors for spearheading the mobile vaccination rollout program. “Pasalamat ta sa atong good councilors. Sila man tanan, headed by the Vice Mayor’s Office ug mga councilors. Sila jud tanan they are all working together to achieve herd immunity per barangay. Target ang high risk barangays,  paspasan og bakuna to protect the barangays through achieving her immunity (We thank our good councilors. All of them, headed by the Vice Mayor’s Office and the councilors. All of them are all working together to achieve herd immunity per barangay. The target would be the high-risk barangays, hasten the vaccinations to achieve herd immunity in the barangays),” she said.

High-risk barangays in the city will also be prioritized in the mobile vaccinations.

From six critical risk barangays from September 22 to 26, it dropped to three this week (September 27 to October 2). There are currently 19 high-risk barangays, two high-risk barangays close to critical risk barangays, 93 moderate risk barangays, and 19 moderate risk barangays close to high-risk barangays.CIO
