The City Government of Davao is planning to give a total of P8 million to areas in Luzon and the Visayas affected by typhoons Josie and Karding.
The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office has recommended helping 11 areas in Luzon, namely, San Jose de Buenavista, Antique; Hamtic, Antique; Alaminos, Pangasinan; Hagonoy, Bulacan; San Mateo, Rizal; San Luis, Pampanga; San Carlos City, Pangasinan; and the entire provinces of Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan and Bulacan, which were all declared under state of calamity.
The first six areas will receive P500,000 cash each while the remaining five areas will receive P1 million each.
The said recommendation will be subject to the approval of the Sangguniang Panlungsod during the special session to be held on Friday next week.
“We should share our blessings here in Davao City, especially to those LGUs that really need our help. Be it in small or big amount, I’m sure the LGU that we will donate to would efficiently use this in trying to recover from their current situation”, Tristan Dwight Domingo, Assistant City Administrator for Operations said during the I-Speak Conference on Thursday.
The said fund will be taken from the city’s Quick Response Fund, particularly under its Calamity Fund.
Last July, the City Government also donated a total of P4.5 million to Dagupan City and the municipalities of Lingayen, Sta. Barbara and Calasiao in Pangasinan; La Paz and Ramos in Tarlac; Marilap and Paombong in Bulacan; and the Municipality of Masantol in Pampanga affected by the southwest monsoon and Typhoon Inday. CIO
