The Davao City government mobile anti-Covid vaccination drive has now reached the far-flung areas to inoculate indigent residents under the priority group A-5.

Spearheaded by the team from the Office of Vice Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, the mobile anti-Covid vaccination drive covered Barangay Suawan in Marilog District on Friday, September 3, and has catered 375 individuals.

Dr. Michelle Schlosser, COVID-TF Spokesperson during an interview over the DXQQ, Davao City Disaster Radio Friday said the mobile vaccination for the said group already reached Baguio District and Marilog District.

Schlosser said that city is set to prioritize the priority A-5, and more vaccination rollouts to the same priority group are to be expected soon.

“We continue to prioritize them, we continue to educate them and encourage them na magpabakuna jud no (We continue to prioritize them, we continue to educate them and encourage them to be vaccinated),” Schlosser said.

It is noted that residents of far-flung areas are not exempt from COVID-19 transmission especially since some residents are mobile and they go to city centers for work and other necessary purposes.

She thanked the successful mobile vaccination drives so far made thru the effort of city officials, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, and the health teams from the City Health Office (CHO) and the Department of Health (DoH).

She said the mobile vaccination led by the city councilors helped in reaching those persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and persons with co-morbidities, who have difficulty in going to city-run vaccination sites in the district centers due to distance.

Previously, the Davao City Sangguniang Panlungsod mobile anti-Covid vaccination drive has already served 4,700 Dabawenyos since its roll-out on August 30.

To stem the transmission, reduce the risk of the Sars-CoV-2 infections, and prevent a surge of cases in isolation facilities and hospitals in the city, the city government accelerated its vaccination drive by opening more vaccination sites and partnering with various agencies, and groups for mobile and sectoral vaccination.

As of August 31, the city registered a high percentage of vaccination rate at 48-49 percent for the first dose or 590,318 individuals given the first dose and 27-28 percent for the second dose or 329,203 fully vaccinated individuals. The city aims to inoculate 1.2 Million by November to reach herd immunity.

Schlosser was hopeful that the new arrival of 22,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines and more doses of Pfizer vaccines may help fast track the vaccination drive and for the city to reach the 15,000 vaccinated per day target.  CIO
