4.7K Dabawenyos inoculated in SP-led mobile anti-Covid drive

The Davao City Sangguniang Panlungsod mobile anti-Covid vaccination drive has now served 4,700 Dabawenyos since its rollout on August 30, according to the Davao City COVID-19 Vaccination Cluster report.

Of the 4,700, the Office of City Councilor Joselle Villafuerte had 1,422 vaccines administered at the Barangay Los Amigos Gym, Lower Sirib Elementary School, and Barangay Subasta Gym.

The Office of City Councilor Isidro Ungab catered to 1,273 individuals in their stops at St. Peter College of Toril and Calinan Central Elementary School; while City Councilor Myrna Ortiz’s office had 700 individuals at Barangay Manuel Guianga Gym; and, City Councilor Atty. Petite Principe’s office had 405 individuals. 

Each of the offices of City Councilors Bai Cassandra Advincula, Javi Campos, and Richlyn Justol-Baguilod served 300 individuals at Eden Elementary School (third district), Barangay Gatungan Gym, and Barangay Cabantian Gym (second district), respectively.

The SP mobile vaccination teams are targeting to inoculate 7,500 more individuals in September. The target is based on the scheduled vaccinations in the city’s three congressional districts. Other councilors have yet to finalize their schedules.

This month of September, the councilors have tentatively scheduled to roll out their  vaccination activities in: 

First District – Barangay Catalunan Pequeño (Sept. 3, City Councilor Bonifacio Militar’s office); and Paddock Building (Sept. 4, City Councilor Mabel Sunga-Acosta’s office); 

Second District – Brgy. San Isidro Gym (Sept. 4), Brgy. Lasang Gym (Sept. 11), Brgy. Bunawan Gym (Sept. 25) of Councilor Campos’ office; Brgy. Buhangin Central Elementary School (Sept. 1, City Councilor Louie Bonguyan’s office); Brgy. Tibungco-F.Bustamante National High School Gym (Sept. 2), Brgy. Sasa-Sasa Elementary School Landmark 3 (Sept. 3), Brgy. Ilang- UM Ilang Campus (Sept. 8), Brgy. Mudiang Gym (Sept. 10), Brgy. Panacan-San Miguel Parish (Sept. 15) of Councilor Jonard Dayap’s office; 

Third District – Brgy. Megkawayan (Sept. 2), Brgy. Pangyan (Sept. 9), Buda Elementary School (Sept. 16) of Councilor Villafuerte’s office; Brgy. Cadalian/Brgy. Carmen (Sept 3, Councilor Principe’s office); and Brgy. Inayangan, Brgy Saloy, and Brgy. Angalan of Councilor Ungab (dates to be announced).

The councilors rolled out their vaccination activities in support of Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte’s aim to inoculate 15,000 daily vaccinations to complete the 1.2 million herd immunity for the first dose before the year ends.  

Mayor Sara had requested the offices of Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte and the city councilors to create their mobile vaccination teams to administer anti-Covid jabs to A2 (seniors) and A3 (adults with comorbidities) priority groups in barangays. 

Davao City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser, during DCDR’s August 27 COVID-19 Alert program said, “Mayor Inday garequest sya sa (Mayor Inday has requested the) DOH because we are aiming for 15,000 a day. Ginapush jud na ni mayor og sa Vaccine Cluster (The mayor and the Vaccine Cluster are really pushing that).”

The city, according to her, has all preparations in place to meet the daily vaccination rollout target.

“Logistics and manpower, we can afford that but for the allocation (of vaccines), we are reliant on the national government and DOH. With the request of our good mayor, I hope and pray ma achieve nato ang (that we can achieve) 15,000 vaccinees a day,” Dr. Schlosser said.

She also said that with the rising number of highly infectious COVID-19 Delta variant cases, the public must continue to strictly comply with the minimum public health standards (MPHS) of wearing face masks, wearing of the face shield, frequent hand washing, social distancing, and getting vaccinated.

Dr. Schlosser added, “Follow minimum public health standard og magpabakuna jud ta kay mao raman jud ang atoang proteksyon sa sarili og sa atoang komunidad (and get vaccinated because that’s the only way to protect ourselves and our community). Cooperate ta sa tanang ordinance, tanang (Let’s cooperate in all ordinances and all executive orders) related to COVID-19 management. Kini sya gibuhat sa atoang (These have been done by our) good mayor, leaders, and lawmakers not to penalize but to protect the community.” CIO
