Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte honored all frontliners for their commitment and hardwork in the cityâs fight against Covid-19 during the commemoration of the National Heroesâ Day on Monday, August 31, 2020, at the Osmena Park.
âAs we celebrate our National Heroesâ Day during the time of a Covid-19 pandemic, I would like to emphasize our all-out support and gratitude to all the health and non-health frontliners who toil every day in our hospitals, facilities, checkpoints and wherever they are needed. It is your hardwork that makes our city stand-up against this relentless virus. Daghang salamat,â said Mayor Sara, who led the commemoration of the National Heroesâ Day.
She said that the hardwork and dedication of the frontliners make Davao City strong, despite the challenges against the Covid-19.
Mayor Sara added that everyone could become modern-day heroes by simply abiding by the minimum health protocols set by the Department of Health. The first is to stay at home, as we are under quarantine. If one must go outside for work or essential needs such as food and medicine, wear the face mask properly, observe social distancing, and wash hands regularly.
âWherever it may be â in the office or establishments, you do the things that are required to contribute to the cutting off of local transmission in the city,â she said.
The mayor has also emphasized the importance of practicing the health protocols for their and other peopleâs safety, especially medical frontliners, who put their lives on the line.
Mayor Sara said, âWe should also remember our past heroesâ contributions to our country, as we know it today.â
âSa atoang balaod naa taây identified na national heroes. (In our law, we have identified national heroes) We should not forget their contributions to our country. What we enjoy today was because of their bravery, strength, and wisdom,â Mayor Sara said. CIO
