Mayor Inday Sara Duterte on Thursday assured the public that Davao City remains safe despite Wednesday evening’s bomb attack in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat that killed two people.
Mayor Inday said that the city never lowered its guard after the 2016 Roxas Night Market bombing and it will remain on heightened alert.
“Davao City has always been on red alert since the bombing incident two years ago and we never lowered our guards after that incident. And with the bombing incident in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, all the more that our security forces will be vigilant”, she said.
On Sunday, the city government will commemorate the 2nd year of the Roxas Night Market bombing.
Mayor Inday said the public’s cooperation with the security measures is needed to ensure the safety of the people of the city.
“I am asking the public to cooperate with our security measures. There are random checkpoints and some other measures that the Davao City Police Office and Task Forces Davao are doing. I’d like to solicit everybody’s cooperation on this”, she said.
Mayor Inday said the public should not be scared of the security procedures being implemented by the DCPO and Task Force Davao, especially if they are not hiding anything. CIO
