The affected workers of offices and business establishments allowed to open only on limited capacity will continue to get food and grocery assistance from the city government under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).

“Magpadayon gihapon ang atong paghatag sa mga food relief operations ug grocery packs. Dili pa ni mahunong ang panghatag bisan pa man nag MGCQ na ta. Kung dunay mga tao nga kinahanglan og ayuda sa ilang pagkaon they should not hesitate nga mag reach out sa atong CSWDO, Davao City Reports, or OpCen hotlines (Food and grocery packs distribution will still continue. This will not stop even though we are under MGCQ. If there are people who need help for their food, they should not hesitate to reach out to our CSWDO, Davao City Reports, or OpCen hotlines),” Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said.

Mayor Sara assured affected workers of the city government’s help and augment those in need.

“Because importante sa atoa ang food relief response nato sa city government of Davao. Importante na ang atuang mga households, atuang mga families naa silay pagkaon bisan pa mag nagkulang ang ilang kita (Food relief response is important to us. It is important that our households, our families have food to eat even though their income is affected),” she said.

Even though the city is already under MGCQ and more businesses are allowed to open again, Maria Luisa Bermudo, the head of the City Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), however, said some businesses are still not in full operation and that means there are still employees who couldn’t go back to work.

According to Bermudo, the CSWDO has already distributed food assistance to more than 20,000 affected workers since the General Community Quarantine (GCQ). These workers are from more than 700 non-essential establishments and 50 associations.

Aside from CSWDO’s food distribution, the city government is also rolled out another round of barangay rice subsidy on July 1 for the barangay frontliners such as the barangay tanods, barangay nutrition scholars (BNS), and barangay health workers (BHW) who are working for the Covid-19 response.

The City Mayor’s Office also created a quick response team for the donations to Dabawenyos who have not availed food assistance from their barangay and CSWDO.

Dabawenyos in need of food assistance may reach out to Davao City Reports, Davao City Disaster Radio, Covid-19 Operation Center Hotlines, and the City Mayor’s Office. CIO
