The Davao City Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) has assured a well-managed lockdown of households, compounds, and streets to ensure not only for the good health but the total well-being of the affected residents.
Angel Sumagaysay, the Chief of PSSCC and the officer-in-charge for coordinating and deploying the security forces in lockdown areas, said the security personnel deployed to these areas on lockdown have been constantly reminded to implement properly the process.
“We see to it that we are reminding always the security clusters to really implement properly the lockdown. Ibig sabihin niyan, kung gi-lock mo ang isa ka lugar, dili gyud nila pasagdan na makagawas-gawas (If an area is locked down, they cannot just go out anytime). We have to follow the protocol of implementing the lockdown,” he said.
In addition to providing security, Sumagaysay said the city government is also addressing the psychological and basic needs of the families in the areas.
“Ayaw pasagdi na atoa lang gi-lockdown tapos pabayaan nimo (We can’t just put them on lockdown and then leave them behind),” he stressed.
Sumagaysay said the City Health Office (CHO) handles the psychological of the families while the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) carries out the delivery of basic needs such as the food.
Currently, there are a total of 37 areas on lockdown with 944 families affected. Out of the 37 lockdowns, 32 are house lockdowns, four (4) compounds, and one (1) a street lockdown.
Aside from households, streets, and compounds on lockdown, Sumagaysay confirmed that his office is concentrating on Barangay 23-C, Barangay 22, and Agdao.
Recall that a lockdown in an area requires residents to 14-day home quarantine. On the 14th day, they will be swabbed and if they are positive of the coronavirus they will be sent to the isolation facility, if not, the lockdown will be lifted.
These individuals undergoing lockdown are those who have exposure to the people positive of the coronavirus or have been included in the contact tracing. CIO
