Want to work with the government? Then the city government of Davao could be your place to be.

There are 800 vacant regular positions open for Dabawenyos, said Lemuel Ortonio, the head of the Davao City Human Resource Management Office (HRMO).

“We have around 3,300 plantilla positions. But, as of now, we only have around 2,500 plantilla positions that are filled,” Ortonio said.

And, there are various offices in need of professional employees, he added.

“Naa pa ta’y mga opening for doctors, lawyers, engineers — specifically civil engineers and mechanical engineers to be assigned sa City Engineer’s Office (CEO) and Office of the City Building Official, and of course nurses and mga dentist to be [deployed] sa City Health Office (We have also opening for doctors, lawyers, engineers specifically civil and mechanical engineers for the City engineer’s Office and Office of the City Building Official, and, of course, nurses, dentist for the City Health Office),” he bared.

Ortonio, however, said the job vacancies will not be filled simultaneously.

“Dili na siya sabay-sabay na tanan naka-post (Not all are posted at the same time). We schedule our interviews for the vacant plantilla positions. As of now, we have already fixed the schedule up until June of this year,” he said.

He said interested applicants can submit to HRMO an Application Letter addressed to the City Mayor, Personal Data Sheet, Work Experience Sheet, Transcript of Records or Proof of Educational Attainment.

He assured that recruitment would be fair and objective, citing the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management (PRIME-HRM). He said compliance with the recruitment standards even earned the city government a Bronze Award in July last year.

“Gina-follow nato ang tanan nga standards that are being set by the Civil Service Commission, which includes ang atoang recruitment and appointment. In terms sa job orders and contractual services, gina-follow nato kung unsa ang requirements sa offices (We follow all the standards set by the Civil Service Commission which includes recruitment and appointment. we also follow the requirements of the offices for job orders and contractual),” he said.
