Davao City bagged its second Kalasag (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing and Kaligtasan) this year for its emergency response program.
The city was first cited in 2018 for its exemplary emergency response program managed by the Central 911 Emergency Response Center.
Central 911 head Emmanuel Jaldon said the cityâs edge over other local government units is its established emergency response program, which has been running for 17 years now.
Jaldon said the Gawad Kalasag Award received by the city for two succeeding years only confirmed the good practices of the Central 911.
âThis recognition is for our exemplary performance in the emergency response. We are very grateful for this,â he said.
Central 911 was established by the city government for a faster response during an emergency.
City Administrator Lawyer Zuleika Lopez thanked all the staff of Central 911 for their efforts in responding to any form of emergencies in the city.
âHopefully if we can get this award again next year we will be in the hall of fame. Thank you to all the staff of central 911 for their exemplary performance,â she said.
Gawad Kalasag is one of the most prestigious government awards that a local government unit receives.
The city government also received P100,000 in monetary reward under the Gawad Kalasag. CIO
