Davao City will further boost its firefighting response with two firetrucks donated by the Municipality of Jinjang, the Peopleâs Republic of China on Thursday.
The two firefighting equipment are symbols of friendship from Jinjiang, a sister city of Davao in Chinaâs Fujian province. Davao City and Jinjiang signed a sister city agreement last year.
They will certainly boost disaster response in the city, said April Marie Dayap, the head of the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center (DCIPC). Dayap received the units on behalf of the city government.
âThese fire trucks are capable of holding 4,000 kilograms of water and 2,000 kilograms of foam liquid. This was manufactured in China,â Dayap said. Each of the truck costs $150,000 or P7.5 million.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Calinan and Davao Fire Volunteers are the two recipients of the new units.
Chinese Consul General in Davao City Li Lin said the delivery of the firetrucks manifested the kinship between the people of Jinjang and Davao City.
âWe also hope that through these firetrucks we can help Dabawenyos so they can be protected from fire incidents,â Li said.
Li said the donation of two medium-sized fire trucks were results of the consultations with local firefighters. CIO
