Davao City is gearing up for the grandest Kadayawan Festival with several activities already scheduled starting on August 2.

Now on its 34th year, the Kadayawan Festival featuring the city’s 11 tribes, will be marked with weekly events until the actual day of the festival.

“Unlike in the previous years that we put all the events in one week, we will spread it out for the entire weekend of August. The Indak-Indak will be held on the 17th of August while the Pamulak Kadayawan will be on the 24th,” said City Tourism Officer Gene Rose Tecson.

She said the decision to hold other activities on weekends in the run-up to the main festival day, will give Dabawenyos a different experience and to entice more visitors.

Tecson said visitors could come early and still enjoy the festivities.

“There were a lot of people who had wished to visit the city for the Kadayawan Festival but they weren’t able to come because our hotels and other accommodations were fully booked. So this year, they will have more time to come since the big events are already spread out throughout the entire month of August,” Tecson said. CIO
