The Davao City Traffic and Transportation Management Office (CTTMO) will submit for confirmatory test the drug results of the four Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) drivers after testing positive positive of illegal drug use.
The four drivers were among the 600 PUV drivers who submitted for the random drug test conducted by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) and the Philippine Drug Abuse Enforcement Agency (PDEA last week.
With the initial results, the CTTMO recalled the PUV IDs of the drivers whose names are being withheld.
CTTMO Chief Dionisio Abude said the four drivers need to be cleared first before they can be allowed to drive again.
“They need to comply first with the procedure prepared by the CADAC to help them reform their lives,” he said. “The moment that they are cleared, then we will re-issue their PUV IDs,”
Abude said.
CADAC action officer Michael Denton Aportadera said the conduct of the surprise random drug test is part of the city government’s goal of a drug-cleared or drug-free city.
“This is just to ensure that passengers will ride with safe drivers and not those under the influence of illegal drugs, This is for the safety of the riding public,” he said.
