The City Government of Davao has extended the deadline of the first quarter payment for real property tax (RPT) payment until June 30, 2019.

“This is to inform everyone, especially real property owners, that the deadline for the payment of real property taxes and to avail of the prompt or advance payment discount has been extended from March 31 to June 30 this year,” said Erwin Alparaque, the officer-in-charge of the City Treasurer’s Office.

Alparaque, who made the announcement on Thursday, said the taxpayers will now have more time to pay their RPTs without incurring interests and penalties for the next three months.

He added that if a taxpayer opts to pay his real property tax in full for the whole year within the first quarter, he will get a 20-percent discount.

For 2019, the city government targets to collect P1.7 billion in real property taxes, higher than the P1.58 billion target in 2018.

As of March 25, the city’s RPT collection already reached P591.5 million.

“We are very confident that we could reach or even surpass the target of 1.7 billion pesos,” said Alparaque, trusting on Dabawenyos to responsibly pay their taxes.

Alparaque also warned delinquent taxpayers that they will face appropriate legal actions as provided for in the Local Government Code. CIO
