Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has told city hall employees not to wait for complaints before they take action on problems faced by the people.

In a New Year’s message she read during the flag-raising ceremony on Monday morning, Mayor Inday stressed that government workers should be aware of any potential problem in the communities even before the people complain about it.

“As workers of the government, it is our job not just to address challenges, but to know the problem before it is felt by our citizens. This is where data, intelligence gathering and feasibility studies are key,” the mayor said.

Mayor Inday then challenged city hall employees to do their tasks well and fast, especially in addressing the concerns of Dabawenyos.

“Let us enhance our coordinations with our counterparts in the national government agencies so that programs and responses in intercepting concerns are not scattershot but coordinated and synched,” she said.

She noted that through good coordination with national government agencies, the delivery of services will be better and can prevent redundancy of programs that will be delivered to the people, especially in the far-flung barangays.

“The past year has taught us to continually do what is right and to look for alternatives to the things that have gone wrong, and to rally against odds by implementing strategic programs to overcome the things that were difficult and challenging,” Mayor Inday said.

She added that the goal of the city government is not just to give good services to the Davaoeños but to make everyday living better for everyone.

She also thanked employees for their relentless effort and in doing their jobs despite the odds that they have experienced in the past year. CIO
