In preparation for the implementation of the City Ordinance No. 0270-23 or the Speed Limit Ordinance of the city on all roads in Davao, the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) is readying materials for a month-long information dissemination on the new speed limit.
PLtCol. Dionisio Abude (Ret), Head of the CTTMO, said during the ISpeak Media Forum on Thursday that their office will begin installing signages in 32 identified locations. They will also be giving out flyers containing information on the new speed limit.
âThis coming December 11 up to January 10, is mao nang gihatag nato nga information drive sa publiko nga kining City Ordinance 0270 ipatuman ni sa January 11. Naa taây identified nga mga area nga maghatag taâg mga flyers. Ang atoang opisina nagapatigayon ug mag-instalar sa mga signages. (We have scheduled an information drive from December 11 to January 10 to inform the public that City Ordinance 0270-23 will be fully implemented on January 11. We have identified several areas where we will be giving out flyers. Our office will also install signages),â he said.
Abude also gave a list of the areas where they will be disseminating the flyers, including the school overpass in Binugao, Toril; Tugbok overpass; Lasang; outpost in Hillcrest and Crocodile Park on Diversion Road; Citihardware on Quimpo; J.P. Laurel; Quirino; San Pedro; and Coastal Road.
Meanwhile, Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) head, PMajor Dexter Domingo, along with the CTTMO, mentioned that their unit was given authority to implement the speed limit ordinance and help ensure the road safety of every Dabawenyo. He said that they were provided with four (4) speed cameras to be used in enforcing the ordinance.
He also added that their personnel have already undergone an orientation with the CTTMO on the implementation of the new speed limit.

Based on the city ordinance, open roads such as the Davao-Bukidnon Road (from Lacson to Marilog-Buda boundary), Davao-Cotabato Road (from Carabao Monument Waypark to Binugao-Sta. Cruz), and Daang Maharlika (from Crossing Bunawan to Lasang) have an allowable maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour (kph) for private vehicles and motorcycles, and 50 kph for trucks, buses, and passenger vans. Meanwhile, through streets including Daang Maharlika (from corner Roxas Avenue to Pichon Rotunda), Davao-Cotabato Road (from Ulas to corner Pichon St), and Quezon Boulevard (from Bolton Bridge to Magsaysay Park) has a maximum speed limit of 40 kph for private vehicles and motorcycles, and 30 kph for trucks, buses, and passenger vans. As for city streets (barangay and subdivision roads) the maximum speed limit for private vehicles and motorcycles, as well as for trucks, buses, and passenger vans is 30 kph. All crowded streets, including high-density residential barangay roads and school zones, have a speed limit of 20 kph.
Those who violate the new speed limit will be penalized with a fine of Php 1000 for the first offense; Php 2000 for the second; and for the third and subsequent offense, the fine will be Php 5000.
