TF Davao conducts symposium for students

To promote the culture of security in the city, the Task Force Davao held a one-day symposium with students at the University of Southeastern Philippines-Obrero in attendance.

The symposium was held at the USeP Dome on December 3.

Capt. John Louie Dema-ala, Civil Military Operations Officer of Task Force Davao said, in an interview with the City Information Office on Monday, that the event was participated by Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) cadets and Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) students of the said university. ROTC Commandant Lt. Col. Reandrew P. Rubio was also present at the symposium.

“Present po yung Commander ng 11O5th CDC 11 RCDG Rescom PA na si Lt. Col. Reandrew P. Rubio, commandant po ng ROTC, kasama po yung director ng NSTP and director po ng ROTC sa USEP. Ang symposium po ay binubuo ng 967 ROTC cadets and 650 CWTS students (Present in the event was the commander of the 11O5th CDC 11 RCDG ResCom PA Lt. Col. Reandrew P. Rubio, commandant of ROTC; along with the NSTP-ROTC director of USEP. Around 967 ROTC cadets and more or less CWTS students attended the symposium),” he said.

Other than providing the students with an in-depth discussion on the culture of security, the EOD team, according to Dema-ala, gave a lecture on the components of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to bring awareness to the students on what they should and should not do should they find suspicious and unattended baggage.

There was also an emphasis on the 3Cs that people should remember: to confirm any suspicious activity or unattended baggage; clear the area; and communicate with security forces regarding the suspicious activity or unattended baggage.

Dema-ala also stated that other than their symposiums, the TF Davao continues its efforts in disseminating information on the culture of security.

Dabawenyos are encouraged to volunteer themselves for inspection, report all suspicious people, activities, and unattended baggage to proper authorities, continue to remind friends and family of the security regulations of the city, and take part in the implementation of the culture of security in the city.
