Around 9,000 welfare goods were distributed by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to the 16 barangays affected by the November 8 urban and street flooding.
“Kung atoang sumadahon mudagan na gyud sa 9,000 welfare goods ang na-distribute nato in 16 barangays pero naa pa ta’y kulang pud nga mga 9,000 kapin, pero sa pagka-karong adlawa gipadayon na ang hinay-hinay nga pag distribute kay dili ta gusto malangan atoang serbisyo nato sa ilaha (If we sum up, we have already distributed around 9,000 welfare goods in 16 barangays but we need to distribute around 9,000 more, but as of today, our distribution continues because we do not want to delay our service for them), ” CSWDO Focal Person for Community Welfare Program Mae Aquino said in a radio interview on Monday.
Aquino said that their office was able to distribute 3,220 welfare goods in Barangay Bago Aplaya, 3,160 welfare goods in Barangay Bago Gallera, 496 welfare goods in Barangay Baliok, 685 welfare goods in Barangay Catalunan Pequeño, 1779 welfare goods in Barangay Dumoy, and 1,300 welfare goods in Barangay Talomo Proper.
As of November 11, the CSWDO listed 8,465 families with 19,037 dependents. This is the total number for the 16 affected barangays – Bago Aplaya, Bago Gallera, Baliok, Catalunan Pequeño, Dumoy, Matina Aplaya, Talomo Proper, Maa, Matina Crossing, Bucana, Lubogan, Bangkas Heights, Lizada, Daliao, Sto. Niño, and Bago Oshiro.
“Talomo District gyud ang pinakadako nga naapektuhan (Talomo District was really the most severely affected),” Aquino said.
Based on the assessment, there are 52 totally damaged houses, 41 of which are located in Talomo B, three in Talomo A, and three in Toril-A. For the partially damaged, three are located in Talomo A, 25 are located in Talomo B, and two are located in Tugbok. For slightly damaged 14 houses were recorded in Talomo B.
“Sa pagkakaron dili pa gyud ta makahatag og exact nga amount pila kay i-kuan pa pud na siya, i-assess pa gyud na siya og ayo kay dili buot pasabot totally damaged sila pareha sila’g madawat depende man pud gyud na siya sa extent sa damage (As of now, we cannot give the exact amount [of assistance per category] because it still needs to be assed well because not all totally damaged may receive the same amount, as it also depends on the extent of damage),” Aquino said.
She added that as of Monday, 27 families are still housed at the Bago Aplaya Evacuation Center, eight families at the Bago Gallera Evacuation Center, and nine families at the Catalunan Pequeno Evacuation Center.
Aquino said that the evacuees received mats, and blankets.
“Ginatan-aw nato nga within this week makabalik nani sa ilahang mga balay (We are expecting they can already return to their houses this week),” Aquino said. CIO
