The observance of All Saint’s Day and All Souls Day in Davao City was peaceful and successful based on the assessment of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

“Very safe and successful yung ating Undas. May mga reported tayo na mga nahuli na may bladed weapons very minimal lang mga lighters, mga vape.. wala naman tayong nahuli na mga baril (The observance of All Saint’s Day and All Saint’s Day was safe and successful. We have reports of apprehension of bladed weapons but very minimal. There were also lighters, vape, but we do not have any confiscation of guns [in the cemeteries]),” Davao City Police Office City Director Col Alberto Lupaz said in a press conference Friday.

Lupaz said that they recorded a shooting incident, however, it was far from the cemetery and did not affect the observation of All Saint’s Day and All Souls Day.

“We will be counting it as an accomplishment kasi may nahuli kaming 9 mm at nahuli namin ang suspect (We will count it as an accomplishment because we were able to confiscate 9 mm and we also caught the suspect),” Lupaz said, referring to the shooting incident.

As to the situation in cemeteries, Lupaz said that through the years Dabawenyos were already compliant and aware of the security
procedures in place. He added that with the collaborative help of agencies, the observation was a success, especially through all of the government approaches involving various agencies.

“Sa lahat ng mga concerned doon na tumulong para maging safe ang ating cemetery dito sa Davao nagpasalamat kami sa kanila lalong lalo na sa ating counterpart sa Task Force Davao and some other Army units na tumulong sa ating pag-secure (For all those who helped keep our cemeteries safe here in Davao we extend our thanks, especially to our counterparts at Task Force Davao and some other Army units that helped secure the Undas),” Lupaz said.
