The City Veterinary Office of Davao City is urging pet owners to bring in their pets for free castration and vaccination as it launched the services in various areas of Davao City.

City Veterinary Office Focal Person, Dr. Gay Pallar, told the Madayaw Program over the city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio on Tuesday that their office is conducting a free castration for dogs and cats this month, as well as a simultaneous anti-rabies vaccination across the city’s 11 administrative districts.

Dr. Pallar said that on September 25, their team will be in Barangay R. Castillo in Agdao District for free castration. Also, in celebration of World Rabies Day, they also scheduled a free castration and anti-rabies vaccination in Purok 20 and 21, Manggahan Gym, Barangay Bucana in Talomo District on September 28.

“Naa ta’y World Rabies Day celebration sa September 28. Kana pagahimuon sa Manggahan Gym, Bucana, Talomo District. Ang atoang theme for this year is ‘All for one, one health for all’. Naa ta’y libre nga castration diha sa Manggahan Gym, ug naa pud ta’y free nga vaccination. It will be held in Manggahan Gym, Bucana, Talomo District. This year’s theme is ‘All for one, one health for all’. We will conduct free castration and anti-rabies vaccination in Manggahan Gym. I am inviting pet owners who want to have their male dogs or cats castrated to join us),” she said.

Dr. Pallar stated that the free castration program of the City Vet is part of their population control, which is one of their strategies in the rabies control program. The free castration is held annually in barangays that requested castration and anti-rabies vaccination.

Currently, their team for the mass vaccination is in Barangay Cabantian. The team will be in the area from September 19 to September 22.

“I-check lang nila ilahang mga barangays kay sa uban nga mga distrito naa pud ta’y simultaneous nga vaccination (Pet owners can check with their barangays since we also have simultaneous vaccination in other districts),” Dr. Pallar added.

Guidelines, requirements, and the schedule of the free castration program of the City Veterinary Office is posted on its Facebook Page: Office of the City Veterinarian – Davao City. CIO
