The Davao City Vice Mayor’s Office on Friday opened the 3-day (September 8-11) Tambayayong: Negosyante Dabawenyo Trade Fair 2023 at the Gaisano Mall of Davao.
The Tambayayong trade fair features 29 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by women’s organizations, barangay livelihood groups, and small social entrepreneurs.
Merchandises ranging from food products and local delicacies, artisan goods, accessories, textiles, and herbal products, among others, are currently on exhibit at the fair.
The Tambayayong program aims to provide a platform with direct access to consumers for the MSMEs. A 3-day seminar was also conducted on entrepreneurship basics, business registration, tax registration, to help empower small business owners by educating them on the importance of legitimizing their business so they can avail themselves of various business assistance, services, and grants from programs of both local and national government agencies.
Lectures in the 3-day seminar were from partner agencies Department of Trade and Indutry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and Davao City Business Bureau.
Vice Mayor J Melchor Quitain Jr, in his speech, thanked all the participants and supporters of the project and stressed the importance of MSMEs and regulatory business practices in promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
“Ang purpose of this para ang MSMEs sa Davao City ma-tap nato para they will come out in the open and we will help them register their business (The purpose of this is to tap the MSMEs in Davao City, usher them out into the open and we will help them register their business),” the vice mayor said.
“So ang atong gina-encourage diri is for people to really register their business kasi once registered, there are a lot of benefits na pwede mahatag ang gobyerno. If you do not register, we cannot assist you kung naa’y grants ang atoang mga national agencies (So what we are encouraging here is for people to really register their business because once registered, there are a lot of benefits that the government can provide. If you do not register, we cannot assist you if our national agencies have grants),” he added.
Friday’s opening ceremony was also attended by DTI Davao City Director Rachel Remitio, DSWD Promotive Services Division Chief Elizabeth Degorio, DOLE Labor and Employment Officer Cristita Coro, and CIO officer-in-charge Harvey Lanticse. CIO
