The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in Davao City, in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), will be conducting a career fair at the Almendras Gym on August 25.

The Kadayawan Job Fair is PESO Davao City’s celebration of the Kadayawan Festival in conjunction with TESDA’s National Tech-Voc Day featuring its World CafĂ© of Opportunities program.

PESO-Davao City Manager Lilibeth Pantinople, during the Ronda DCDR program aired over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Wednesday, said over 2,000 vacancies will be up for grabs during the activity.

Pantinople bared that 37 local companies and 10 overseas agencies will be participating in the fair where the most in demand overseas job positions call for nurses, cleaners, and butchers.

Applicants are advised to wear business casual attire. Pre-registration is not required as both PESO and TESDA will be catering to walk-in applicants.

Aside from facilitating employment opportunities, TESDA will also open its World Café of Opportunities program during the job fair.

TESDA XI Regional Operations Chief Division Chief Myrna Roa said the program, just like the job fair, will be open to applicants in the region and beyond.

“Wala ni’y pili. Tanan pwede mag-apil sa activity. Ginatawag ni namo og World CafĂ© of Opportunities. Aside sa among partnership with PESO para sa job fair, naa’y mga dugang nga features na gina-offer pud sa TESDA (We will not discriminate. Everyone can join in the activity. We call this the World CafĂ© of Opportunities. Aside from partnering with PESO for the job fair, we have additional features to be offered by TESDA),” she said.

The fair, through TESDA, will feature skills demonstrations and lectures. Agricultural drones operation, cake making, and flair tending are only some of the skills to be demonstrated on Friday.

Roa said those who will not be fortunate enough to be hired on the spot will be listed on TESDA’s profile of job-seekers. Being on the list will automatically qualify applicants to TESDA’s capability-building and skills training upgrading programs where job seekers can enhance their skills, retool their skillset, or even re-skill to suit better job opportunities

The fair will also offer free photocopying services, back massage, and even blood pressure taking to ensure the welfare of applicants.

“Among paningkamutan na atong mapaabot sa atong mga kaubanan nga lumulupyo diri sa city og sa tibuok rehiyon nga naay maayong serbisyo na ilang madawat sa Friday (We will strive to deliver good service to our residents here in the city and the entire region on Friday),” Roa added.
