The Davao City Library and Information Center (CLIC) on Wednesday launched its new P7-Million mobile library with a blessing ceremony at the People’s Park.
This is the city’s third mobile library bus, and currently holds around 2,000 book titles, arts and crafts supplies, boardgames, and educational movies.
CLIC Head Salome Enoc said the addition of another bus to the mobile library program will give more people access to books and other learning materials.
Enoc said one of the three mobile libraries will now be exclusively used to visit public elementary schools. The other one will specifically deliver Emergency Preparedness lectures to raise disaster risk awareness in grade school and high school students, while the new bus will exclusively cater to daycare centers in the city.
The mobile libraries, said Enoc, prioritize far-flung areas “to bridge the gap” of access between people living in the city center and those residing in the city’s rural areas.
Wednesday’s ceremony was led by Mayor Sebastian Duterte, Enoc and other public officials. CIO
