The Office of the City Building Official (OCBO) on Tuesday launched the first phase to the Online Building-Related Permit System (OBPS).
The Online Building-Related Permit System is in line with the digitalization initiative of the City Government of Davao, to streamline and hasten transactions and processes for clients.
Through the website, clients can upload their building plans, monitor the status of their projects, receive updates through SMS, and make the necessary adjustments before being required to hand in a full set of printed forms, plans, and documents in a face-to-face appointment with OCBO.
OCBO Officer-in-Charge Architect Khash Toghyani said that traditional method of acquiring a building permit usually requires five sets of printed building plans and other requirements, but with the online system, this can be reduced to only one set- effectively cutting costs for clients.
Toghyani said the system serves as a testament to OCBOâs âcommitment to streamlining government processesâ for all Dabawenyos. He said the system is expected to cut long queues and will simplify the arduous task of securing a building permit.
Although online transaction will inarguably offer a more hassle-free process, he said securing the permit will still probably take the usual 20-working day processing duration. The speed by which the building permit can be granted, Toghyani said, will still depend on how fast the client is able to comply with the necessary documents and submit the completed and consolidated requirements for evaluation.
In the coming weeks, additional features for the online application of Occupancy Permit and Stand-Alone Permit will be added to the OBPS.
Mayor Sebastian Duterte, in his speech, said that although there are high hopes for the new system in terms of simplifying processes, face-to-face transaction with the OCBO will still be a viable option for those who prefer it.
Duterte also urged permit applicants to comply with necessary requirements without resorting to the services of fixers.
